Should Martin Platt come back to Corrie?
When an ex-Coronation Street actor takes to making his own cheese, you know he's got time on his hands. And when his on-screen ex-wife is set to lose another lover, is it time to bring back Martin Platt into Gail's life? He could be just about the only fella that Gail's ever had that hasn't died an awful death on her doorstep (or nearest canal). So what do we think, Corrie fans, about having Martin Platt back - Yes? I could see David being framed for Joe's murder, and no one believing his innocence. His son's murder trial would be a sensible reason for Martin Platt to return.
No. If they could barely be bothered referring to him when David was at his worse and banged up in jail, then why bother at all?
Absolutely NOT. Just because actors cant get any work anywhere else, it is no reason to resurrecct characters that have now been forgotton. Martin never came back to see his son in prison, Sarah Lou married, why on earth would he resurface now?
Oh dear, seems I might be the only one who thinks this is a good idea!
If they'd managed to bring him back even for a couple of episodes when his son needed him most, i might agree with you Nora. I know sometimes the actors aren't available but i don't recall him being all that busy since he's left Corrie. They barely even mentioned Martin and other than that, sent David off to see his dad when it was convenient to the plot.
I really used to like Martin and would like to see him back in one way or another.
Maybe a partner for Gail which lasts more than 5 minutes would be a good thing!!
Martin Platt was quite an influential character back in the day. He had a lot of freinds on the street, and was always in and out of different story lines.
And after all the trouble the platt family have gone through, I think it would be good to see something good happen to them for a change.
Martin coming back could have a positive influence on the soap as a whole!
And lets face it, the stroy lines are so rubbish at the moment, maybe a few of the characters coming back from an era where it was actually intersting to watch would do the soap some good in the long run.
I think they could get a lot of mileage out of bringing Martin back. It opens up all sorts of doors. I never did understand why they went down the road they did with that character-it wasn't believable. Anyway, I say BRING BACK MARTIN PLATT!
I think they should bring Martin back. Given the relationship he used to have with David long, long ago, maybe he could be a steadying influence (?) David's character is all over the map and has been for some time.

martin platt left the street because he refused to have an affair with a very young girl I admire him for this and wish others on the show would think about the street before it goes down the shute . bring back martin and some decency into our one time favourite show
i think martain should come back . get back with gail and sort his son david out it would make interesting viewing look forward to it.

Definiately, we need something like Martin back. Juices story lines for him and Gail could be interesting. We Canadians love to see the actor back once again.

I would also bring back Raquel too...at any price...get some decent storylines going again...
When you look at all the others that have come and gone, and you see how long he was a character on the show and how much exposure he had... it makes sense to bring him back - both for consistency, and continuity.
He's a great actor - who cares if he needs work or not. He'd be an asset to the show... and a face that many long-time viewers would enjoy seeing.
DEFINATLEY NOT! these actors make me sick, they come on corrie to get recognition then soon as work drys up they want to come back, we cant do it with our old jobs!!
martin hasnt been there for either tina or david through any of their dilemma's or troubles so why now? they are better off without him, besides if he gets back with gail they would only have him having another affair before to long.
let gail have a rest then bring in a guy who is going to stay long term in the street so the poor woman gets a bit of happiness for a change, in all the years gail has been in the street she has had bad relationships, let her have a lasting one for a change!!
and please please let someone give david the good hiding he deserves!!! it may knock some sense into him!!

Personally I would like to see Martin come back and I think this is the time to do it, when Gail is once again left on her own with Devil David!
I admire the fact that the actor who plays Martin left because he did not believe in the story line that was been given to him, namely that of an affair with an even younger girl! The actor kept his own council and principles here, and as such we should all praise him.
It is unfortunate that he is finding it difficult to get any futher work, but we should not tar him with the same brush as those who leave because they believe they can go on to bigger and better things.
So bring him back, I say!!!
I think it could be interesting and quite a turn up for the books especially for everything David has been up to since he left.
I think the best actress lost in this soap was Suranne Jones who played Karen. Her and Steve were a real comedy.

Bring him back. he is missed. He was such a nice guy. They made him a creep when he met the nurse and went away with her. Bring him back to Gail and David.
